How is social skills coaching neuro-affirming?
We first teach in a structured classroom format, which allows for you to learn the foundations and store it all in your database. We place a heavy emphasis on picking and choosing when to apply it in your daily life. Just like… neurotypicals with no formal social training. No person has great social skills all of the time!
After that, we move on to applying what we’ve learned in a naturalistic setting or with others in a group setting.
Building relationships in ways that feel comfortable and safe matter— discussing special interests, parallel hangs or body doubling, etc.
