Speech Therapy Services in Brooklyn, NY

In-home or telehealth evaluations and therapy services in for toddlers, teens, and adults.

  • Are you hoping to expand your toddler’s current level of communication?

Parents often feel worried if their child isn’t speaking yet or seems a little bit behind their peers in following directions, understanding words, or play skills. We’re here to help!

Using a child-led and play-based approach, we will work on all of the early development pieces needed to start communicating. We’ll also use a variety of other approaches such as PROMPT and the Hanen framework, and Natural Language Aquisition framework for autistic toddlers.

  • Social skills, but make it neuro-affirming.

Learning social skills in a structured format allows for you to have the foundations and skills in your database, and pick and choose when to apply it in your daily life. Just like neurotypicals…wink wink.

Some examples of goals might be initiating and maintains conversation, staying on topic, understanding body language.

For adults and teens, we cover workplace social interactions, dating, and more.

  • When treating autistic people, we follow the Natural Language Acquisition framework which is a neuro-affirming approach to understanding, expanding, and shaping the language of gestalt language learners.

Gestalt language learners process and use language in whole chunks, often experiencing language as a multi-sensory experience where longer phrases, emotions, and sensory pieces integrate to form a wholistic message. Gestalt language learners use scripts and echolalia to communicate.

  • It’s important to build skills that are necessary for independence in daily living routines, social routines, and the workplace.

Some examples of goals we might work on are planning, organizing, and carrying out tasks. Other examples are identifying problems, generating multiple flexible solutions, predicting consequences, and using clues to make predictions.

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) supports many different communicators, at any age.

It’s never too late to get a device or explore a new program.

We conduct AAC evaluations and obtain the AAC device through your insurance company, followed by therapy services to learn to use the device effectively.

Coaching Services

for adults and teens

  • Our social skills coaching is offered as either individual or group sessions.

Our social skills groups serve two purposes:

    1) to serve as a source to build community for ND folx

    2) To directly teach social skills in a structured manner, and to provide a toolkit of social skills

Groups are curated by age, interests, and goals.

We’ll focus on conversation skills, bringing a spark* to the conversation, body language, reading social cues, and how to thoughtfully develop and maintain meaningful friendships.

We teach in a structured format, which allows for you to have the foundations and skills in your database, and then pick and choose when to apply it in your daily life. Just like… neurotypicals. No one has great social skills all of the time!

  • Parent coaching is available whether your child is 6 months old or 26 years old.

Navigating autism and neurodiversity can be a full-time job, and we’re here to help you make that job a little bit easier.

Together we will develop goals and strategies to help your child with sensory regulation, strengthen and build new skillsets related to communication, and more easily participate in activities of daily living.

  • Career coaching can look many different ways.

Our support services can help you with finding a new career position, or keeping it!

Our spectrum ranges from assisting an advanced degree holder in finding a new position, to assisting teens with their first after-school retail or hospitality position.

We can help you with networking by assisting in finding employers who hire neurodivergent employees or have existing programs in place.

We also assist with building your CV and resume, and crafting scripts for emails and calls during the hiring process.

Together, we can also prepare for social interactions such as interviews, presentation skills, building positive workplace relations, and so much more.

Advocating for our ND clients can also be a part of our process. Meeting with your employer to ensure that they understand the needs of neurodivergent employees and how to work together to create mutual success. Advocating for accommodations, like sensory components to Assistive Tech is also part of the process.

Additionally, we provide direct on-site job coaching, where we will accompany you (in person or virtually) to a position that you currently hold and help you navigate your social and professional goals. This offering is often beneficial for teens starting new jobs as well.
